Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> October 8,2014 <br /> 5.1 Eagle Scout Project Presentation • <br /> David Waldron presented his Eagle Scout project;build a scenic overlook on Rice <br /> Lake. <br /> Mayor Dietz asked if Livonia Township needs to approve the project. <br /> Commission Anderson stated that the Sherburne County Commission will have to <br /> approve it. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that the City of Elk River would submit a letter of support and <br /> that they would maintain the overlook. <br /> 5.2 Park/Program Highlight <br /> Mr.Benoit presented a slideshow of the 2014 Farmers Market highlights. <br /> 6.1 Lions Club Bench Donation <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. <br /> Harold Gramstad,24189 97th St. Elk River,member of the Lions Club shared that <br /> they are going to use the same contractor the Rotary Club used • <br /> Moved by Commissioner Sagan and seconded by Commissioner Ahlness to to <br /> recommend to City Council to accept staff recommendation to accept the <br /> Lions Club bench memorial to be placed in Bailey Point Nature Preserve. <br /> Motion carried 6-0. <br /> 6.2 Park Improvement Fund Recommendations <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Anderson shared the cost breakdown of Houlton Property. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that line items for Houlton Property and Bailey Point Nature <br /> Preserve improvement were new to the Parks Improvement Fund from the last <br /> commission worksession. <br /> Commissioner Holmgren asked how the new line items were added. <br /> Mr. Hecker stated that the City Council approved the purchasing of the Houlton <br /> property and staff believed that there should be funds allocated. <br /> • <br /> tosi111 II <br /> MATURE <br />
