01/06/1997 11:44 6122413950 DAVE ARO PAGE 02
Varsity game. With total support from the Board,Mike and Roy were encouraged to compile the
necessary structure and their proposal preferences for the John M. Twaddle Sportsmanship .
Award. Encouraged to submit a proposal at the December 17th meeting. Rich Czech mentioned
that armbands with John's initials and his number would be handed out to PeeWees and Bantams
(from B2 and up)to wear throughout the season. It was also recommended that this annual
award be published in the Information Booklet. Suggestions for the Review Board would include
Mike and Linda Twaddle, as chairmen, to insure that the Award is carried out in the spirit in
which it was intended. Other Review Board members could be pulled from the ERYHA Board
and ERYHA Coaches. Suggested an application for players or coaches to fill out. Rich Czech
suggested an open skate, dedicated to John, with the$3.00 per skater charge going towards the
Memorial Fund. Also suggested hanging John's jersey in the arena.
ERYHA Organizational Chart-Dave Aro. Dave presented a revised chart (revised by Dale
Martin), asking each Board member to review and have suggestions for the next meeting.
Arena Commission-Dave Aro. Two names were received for nomination. Loren Helen made a
motion to accept the nominations of Dave Taus and Dale Martin for the Arena Commission
positions, representing ERYHA. These will be non-voting members of ERYHA. Discussion:
these positions were advertised to the membership and nominees are pending final approval by the
• City Council. The motion was second by Rich Czech, passing unanimously.
New Arena construction-Dave Aro. Citing structural problems, errors and oversights. Dave
Taus mentioned heater in the hall way, hanging from the ceiling, low enough that skaters will have
to duck going past it. Do not have heat in the locker rooms. Dave Taus mentioned these Errors
and Omissions, and should hold someone accountable. Part of the issue is the agreement of
ERYHA to finish the locker rooms. At this point, these rooms are not properly "roughed in".
There are many unresolved design issues, structural issues, and financial issues. Dave Taus
suggest that ERYHA meet with the City, complain about these existing issues and being expected
to cover these expenses, demand a proposal from the Architects on how they will recitfy these
problems. If unresolved, we will take it to the next step, filing with the State. The Contingency
Fund has been used up. The humidifier was hung incorrectly. The change was covered by the
Architects. Major design issues: door to storage area, mop sink, missing walls, no water, no
electric, no heater vents, sprinkler system. Dave Taus cited our need(ERYHA)to make
financial/work commitments to finish these locker rooms. Block work($2,000); light fixtures
(each room has one rough-in for lights); duck work and heater units for the four locker rooms and
storage room; gas installation;installation and labor; heat for the bleachers(one side). This being
a construction year, our varsity games can go without heated bleachers this first year.
Approximately$10,000-11,000 for heating locker rooms/bleachers, $2,000 block, $1,500 for
• lighting. Money is available in our General Account, Dave Taus made a motion to approve
