,1, City of - E1 Memorandum River To: Energy City Commissioners From: Kristin Mroz,Environmental Technician Date: August 20,2014 Subject: Agenda items supplemental information The following is a short summary of the agenda items for the August 20 meeting. More detailed information will be provided verbally. 5.1 The Energy City Commission has received a$2000 grant for the Regional Indicators Initiative in order to measure annual performance in the areas of Energy Water,Travel,and Waste from 2007-2013.The price for involvement has increased from$3000 to$3500 but now includes data for 2013. The City commitment will now be$1500. The 2014 budget currently has $1000 for"Other Professional Services"available.The remaining$500 can come from Travel and Training.This change will require a budget amendment by the City Council in December. 5.2 The Energy City High 5 Program was started in 2010 to encourage businesses within Elk River to participate in Energy City initiatives and goals. Interested businesses are required to complete a number of tasks,with the option of completing other tasks to increase their score. Each task is given a certain amount of points and businesses can achieve one of three levels (Single,double,or triple High 5). Each level provides the business with unique rewards.Please see the attached High 5 Packet for more information. The program is fully formed for businesses and Faribault Foods was awarded with a plaque in 2011. Staff would like to aggressively reinstate this program and also revise the program to include individual households as well.This program is a Priority Action Step on the 10-year Energy City Action Plan. 7.1 The 10-year Action Plan was recommended by motion by the Economic Development Authority on July 21,2014 with the following conditions: • The Action Plan be reviewed annually in place of biennially by the ECC.The Action Plan will also be reviewed by the EDA at that time.
