4 :47. PARENTING LEAVE <br /> Eligible employees are entitled to take up to 6 weeks unpaid leave upon the birth or <br /> adoption of a child in accordance with Minnesota law. To be eligible for such leave, an <br /> employed : <br /> basis. Under the Minnesota Parental Leave Act, a Minnesota employee who has worked <br /> for the Utilities for at least 12 months and who has worked at least one-half(1/2) time <br /> during the twelve(12)months preceding a leave is entitled to take up to twelve(12)weeks <br /> of unpaid leave as follows: <br /> • An eligible biological or adoptive parent make take such leave for the birth or <br /> adoption of a child. and <br /> • An eli'ible female em.lo ee ma take such leave for prenatal care or incapacity <br /> due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related health conditions. <br /> - - 4. .- <br /> parenting leave must be made in advance. In most circumstances, leave may not begin <br /> more than 6 weeks after the actual birth or placement of the child. If the child require9 <br /> e* a spitalization after birth-,--the leave-may-1- ••- - . <br /> leaves the hospital. An employee on parenting leave must use all his or her accrued and <br /> cover the entire parenting leave An employee requesting parental leave must give the <br /> Utilities at least thirty(301 days advance notice of the start and end dates of the reguested <br /> leave, unless such notice is not possible due to legitimate unanticipated factors in which <br /> case as much notice as is possible should be given. For a leave for the birth or adoption of <br /> a child,the leave must begin within either 12 months of the birth or adoption or,if the child <br /> must remain in the hospital longer than the mother, within 12 months of the child leaving <br /> the hospital. <br /> Insurance benefits will continue during the leave, but the employee must pay his or her <br /> portion of the premiums durin the leave and will be re.uired to reimburse the Com.an <br /> for premiums paid by the Company during the leave if the employee does not return to <br /> work following the leave. <br /> If any employee is eligible for parental leave under both the FMLA and the MN Parental <br /> Leave Act,the parental leave time taken under the Company's FMLA leave policy will run <br /> concurrently with time taken under this policy. <br /> If you are eligible for both unpaid MN parental leave and any paid vacation or long-term <br /> disability insurance, you must use this paid time off or salary continuation benefit during <br /> any MN parental leave period up to the amount needed to cover the entire parenting leave. <br /> 35 <br /> April 2013 <br /> August 2014 <br /> 100 <br />
