The group brainstormed possible objectives (smaller specific steps that lead to the completion <br /> of the larger general goal) for goal 2 as follows: (later, a small work group prioritized the objectives into <br /> action step timelines reported below). <br /> In the next 6-12 months: <br /> invite more elected leaders to these (tonight's) types of meetings <br /> have government officials come and see what we are doing <br /> send flyers home to families with children in school about the school board meetings <br /> send information that may be of interest to them (elected officials)--keep them informed <br /> Ex: ECFE parents are going to rally day--a group of 40 or more--parents and children <br /> expressing their concerns about support from the gov't for our program. <br /> contact them--let them know we're here and what we need <br /> offer to help them meet their needs and goals through our programs <br /> invite their participation to our joining planning efforts <br /> have community volunteer appreciation event jointly sponsored by city and School <br /> Bd.--present annual reports at the same joint School Board/City Council meeting <br /> develop "spokespersons" team to frequent mtgs. and give reports <br /> convene a meeting with elected representatives and advisory boards/councils <br /> In the next 12-18 months: <br /> have an event to bring groups together around issues <br /> have members from one group present report at other groups meetings <br /> create opportunities to dialogue about issues (like 2001 events in past) <br /> communication of what is happening. Good, bad, etc. and how they are helping or <br /> hindering.
