City COUTICd Nfinutes Page 4 <br /> May 19,2014 <br /> ----------------------------------- <br /> 8.2 City of Elk River Land Use Amendment— Comprehensive Plan <br /> Mr. Barnhart presented the staff report. <br /> It was noted Mr. Haarsted's property (19413 Zebulon Street) should be added to <br /> Figure 8.2 as a future development area in the Urban Service District. <br /> Moved by Councilmember Motin and seconded by Councilmember <br /> Westgaard to approve the Comprehensive Plan as presented but with the <br /> change discussed above for the Haarsted property. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> 8.3 Designate Councilmember to Participate in Wayfinding Master Plan <br /> Process <br /> Ms. Allard presented the staff report. <br /> Moved by Councilmember Motin and seconded by Councilmember <br /> Westgaard to designate Councilmember Burandt to participate in the <br /> Wayfinding Master Plan process. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Other Items <br /> Donation <br /> Mayor Dietz noted the city received a donation in the amount of$1,757.92 from the <br /> Elk River Ministerial Association. The funds were collected at the National Day of <br /> Prayer and directed to be used for Parks and Recreation. Department purposes. (Item <br /> to come back- as afiomial resolution at the meeting) <br /> Fireworks <br /> Mayor Dietz stated,with only 45 days before the Independence Day holiday, the <br /> Independence Day Committee has stated they are no longer able to operate the <br /> event due to time corritnitments. He noted the Economic Development Authority <br /> contributes $6,000 for the fireworks and the city contributes $5,000 of in-kind <br /> contributions and program-related expenses. He stated there wouldn't be any labor <br /> this year because the city would only be hosting the fireworks. fie stated the police <br /> chief indicated to him police services would be approximately $800-$1,000 for traffic <br /> management. <br /> Mayor Dietz noted the Committee stated $1,800 of their budget could be used <br /> toward the fireworks this year. He stated the city would have about 112,000 for <br /> purchasing fireworks but for a good display, a total of$15,000 would be needed. He <br /> stated he understands how difficult it is for the Committee to put on an event <br /> because they would rather be with family,go out of town,and not work the whole <br /> day but there would be many disappointed people if there were no fireworks. <br /> INATURE <br /> . . .. . . . .M'd <br />
