Natural Resources Inventory <br />Greenway Implementation <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The City of Elk River is accepting Request for Proposals to complete a natural resources inventory <br />(NRI). The purpose of the NRI is to provide sound science-based information on the remaining <br />natural resources within the City that have not yet been impacted by development. The information <br />provided in the NRI will be used to: <br /> <br />Guide development of goals and strategies for resource conservation and management <br />Identify priorities for resource management <br />Evaluate current natural resource management practices <br />Guide policy development <br />Prov/de information for parks, open space, trails and greenway planning <br /> <br />Timeline <br /> <br />Proposals are to be returned no later than 12:00 p.m. on January 20, 2004. Six copies, three-ring <br />bound should be submitted to: <br /> <br />Michele McPherson <br />Director of Planning <br />City of Elk River <br />13065 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br /> <br />Context <br /> <br />The City of Elk River is located north and west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A City with a <br />landmass of 44 square miles~ it is located in Townships 32 and 33, Range 26 in Sherburne County. <br />Elk River is the Sherbume County Seat and has, in the last 10 years, experienced four percent <br />growth annually. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />· Community Context, Draft 2004 Comprehensive Plan <br />· Map Illustrating Vacant Lands <br />· Map Illustrating Residential Lands Five acres or Greater <br /> <br />Required Tasks <br /> <br />The NRI will be completed on all public lands (City, County and School District), all private, <br />undeveloped lands both inside and outside the City's Urban Service District, and on all residential <br />parcels with a dwelling on it five acres or greater.
