Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance and Office Manager
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
February 11, 2014 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
We had 2,347 credit card payment transactions in January, compared to 2,408 in December. The
fee for December should be $5,280.75.
A PCA credit of 14 mils was distributed to customers on January's billing, for$344,142.98. We
had a balance of$310,005.59 to distribute and due to the high usage in December, have
distributed $34,137 over the collected credit. As we had discussed using reserves to absorb up to
$500,000 for the PCA charges throughout the year, I do not expect to do any further adjustment
to the PCAs for 2013, unless the commission desires differently.
The auditors will be here February 27`h and 28th for field work and will be compiling the final
audit report for 2013. I will provide an update at the March commission meeting and provide an
anticipated presentation date for the audit.
Our kick-off call with NISC for the ABS (Accounting and Business Solutions) and CC&B
(Customer Care and Billing) software conversion occurred on January 27`h. This call resulted in
a timeline discussion for the plan of work throughout 2014 and into March of 2015. There is a
lot to be done and staff is excited to begin the process. Our first on site visit from NISC will
occur late March for the business practices analysis component related to the ABS conversion.
This visit lays the groundwork for how data will be converted and what processes will change or
be modified with the new software. NISC then will be working offsite on our data conversion
and return in June for training and the start of implementation with a live date of August 18
projected. At the end of July we will have our first on site visit for the business practices
analysis component related to the CC&B conversion. The CC&B live date is projected for
February of 2015.
In
IIIEIEI It
Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power P r o v i d e r P e W E R E D T o SERVE
191
