Economic Development Authority Minutes Page 5
January 21,2014
Mr. Barnhart stated the roundabout would be created to solve current and future
known traffic flow problems and future changes to property entrances would be
considered no matter who purchases the property.
Commissioner Motin stated he wouldn't support the sale of this property to
Morrell's due to the fact that the intended future use was directed towards
commercial and light industrial use. He felt it important to consider the road
infrastructure in this development and the factors which come from the use of semi-
truck traffic in this area.
Commissioner Wilson stated he would prefer to Work with Morrell's and believed
some of the points raised could be addressed in order to retain a long-term business
in the community.
Commissioner Tveite stated he would support selling Morrell's the property in favor
of retaining Morrell's in the community.
Mr. Barnhart appreciated the thoughts of the commission and would report back to
Morrell's.
7. Other Business
Commissioner Tveite commented on the large amount of positive press and media
coverage as a result of Elk River hosting Hockey Day Minnesota.
8.
