in 2006. The school currently serves 525 students in grades 6-12 and is located at 17796 <br /> Industrial Circle NW. The mission of Spectrum High School is to foster academic and personal <br /> excellence through a program emphasizing high academic standards in a small school setting. <br /> The teacher-student ratio is 22:1. <br /> Students are encouraged to attain their maximum potential through a 3-dimensional <br /> strategy emphasizing a college preparatory curriculum, a technology-rich environment, and <br /> community-based outreach. Spectrum currently offers 17 college classes in a cooperative <br /> agreement with Anoka Ramsey Community College, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and <br /> St. Cloud State University. It is possible to graduate from Spectrum while also earning an <br /> Associates Degree without having to leave the Spectrum campus. <br /> The academic rich environment extends into the fine arts with outstanding programs in band, <br /> choir, and theater. Varsity athletics are offered in 16 sports and Spectrum recently established <br /> their own athletic fields. All extra-curricular activities support the Spectrum vision to foster <br /> academic and personal excellence. <br /> Hours of Operation <br /> School Hours are 8:00 am— 3:20 pm (faculty report at 7:30 am)Monday —Friday during <br /> the school year. The school year lasts from the end of August through May. <br /> There are extracurricular activities at the school from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. <br /> Number of Employees <br /> There are currently a total of 73 employees including faculty and staff. There will 10 additional <br /> staff proposed to serve the 6th grade education center. <br /> Student Population <br /> There are currently 525 students attending Spectrum. This is the capacity allowed per the CUP. <br /> The 6th grade center will add up to 150 additional students. <br /> Site <br /> The site already exists with no new site work proposed. It was designed and constructed in <br /> 2007. The civil drawings prepared at that time are included in this submittal. The school <br /> proposes to use the south end of the east and south sidewalks for bus drop off and pick up. <br /> Parent drop off would be in the interior court parking area. A trash enclosure would be <br /> constructed along the northwest corner of the gymnasium. The location would be out of the way <br /> and easy for trash pick-up. <br /> The additional 1.5 acres of land is located immediately to the west of the building. <br /> 1/27/2014 <br />
