Operates light and <br /> heavy equipment. <br /> Essential Functions <br /> 1. Assists in the administration of the street maintenance division. <br /> A. Assists in supervising street maintenance operators I&II,laborers and seasonal <br /> laborers. <br /> B. Assumes responsibility for the street maintenance division in the absence of the <br /> street superintendent. <br /> C. Assists in trouble-shooting and responding to division concerns. Immediately <br /> reports any concerns,problems or suggestions that are beyond scope of position to <br /> street superintendent. <br /> D. Assists in training new employees. <br /> E. Performs daily job set-up by meeting with street superintendent to schedule daily <br /> work assignments. Keeps street superintendent informed of progress and job status. <br /> F. Attends meetings in street superintendent's absence. <br /> 2. Performs job site supervision. <br /> A. Visits job site following initial setup to verify safety setup and worker understanding. <br /> B. Be available to respond to jobsite to give direction, answer questions from workers <br /> or the public and to handle other problems that may arise. <br /> C. Ensures safe working environment by implementing, advising and inspecting work <br /> zone signage setups and requiring safe work practices and procedures of all <br /> employees. <br /> D. Preview upcoming job sites and prepare as necessary:when needed, stake area and <br /> call for underground locates, assess and prepare needed tools and equipment, etc. <br /> 3. Performs street maintenance activities. <br /> A. Constructs/maintains streets,parking lots, alleys, and related property using heavy <br /> and light equipment. <br /> B. Conducts sweeping,plowing, sanding and salting, and crack sealing and asphalt <br /> patching operations. <br /> Page 1 <br />
