I. Ensures staff is properly trained in safety protocol, adheres to safety regulations and <br /> follows all safety practices and policies in their work. <br /> J. Coordinates activities with other departments or division supervisors on behalf of <br /> the Superintendent for joint projects or activities. <br /> 2. Assists with budgeting and policy administration. <br /> A. Makes recommendations to the Street Superintendent for replacement of <br /> equipment,infrastructure needs, and other maintenance information. <br /> B. Assists the Street Superintendent with development of short- and long-term goals, <br /> annual budgeting, and monitoring of budget and expenditures. <br /> C. With the approval of the Street Superintendent,initiates orders for parts,materials, <br /> and supplies. <br /> D. Assists in the development and interpretation of policies, rules,regulations and <br /> procedures for the department. <br /> E. Assists the Street Superintendent in maintaining and enforcing policies and <br /> procedures of the city. <br /> 3. Performs other administrative duties. <br /> A. Directly responsible for organizing, developing, archiving and maintaining all street <br /> division work orders and reports in a timely and organized manner. <br /> B. Brings disciplinary issues with supporting documentation to the attention of the <br /> Street Superintendent in a timely manner. <br /> C. Provides timely, accurate,proactive information to the Street Superintendent <br /> regarding current and ongoing division issues. <br /> D. Handles maintenance activity inquiries and complaints from residents, contractors, <br /> and others in a timely manner to ensure effective service and maintenance of <br /> goodwill. <br /> E. Creates content and provides guidance to the office staff for the Street Division <br /> webpage. <br /> 4. Performs other essential job duties. <br /> A. Regular and timely work attendance. <br /> B. Assists superintendent with employee training program. <br /> C. Follows all safety procedures. Participates in safety training. Works in a safe manner <br /> and reports unsafe activity and conditions. <br /> Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br /> ❑ Extensive knowledge of the materials, methods,techniques, tools, and equipment used to <br /> repair,maintain and construct streets,utilities and related facilities. <br /> ❑ Thorough knowledge of the operational functions and capabilities of light and heavy <br /> construction and maintenance equipment and control systems. <br /> ❑ Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions <br /> necessary to the safe conduct of work and equipment. <br /> ❑ Skilled in the day-to-day supervision and training needs of employees. <br /> ❑ Ability to plan and schedule work so as to efficiently and effectively utilize available <br /> resources. <br /> ❑ Ability to lift heavy objects,walk and stand for long periods, and to perform strenuous <br /> physical labor under adverse environmental conditions. <br /> ❑ Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the work of several work crews engaged <br /> in a wide variety of complex maintenance construction and repair activities. <br /> ❑ Ability to make decisions recognizing established precedents and practices and to use <br /> resourcefulness and tact in meeting new problems. <br /> Streets Lead PD draft 122 14 Page 2 <br />
