City of Elk River <br /> ity of C1 Lead Street Maintenance Operator <br /> River Position Description <br /> Department: Immediate Supervisor: <br /> Community Operations and Street Superintendent <br /> Development/Street Maintenance <br /> Pay Grade: FLSA Status: Last Updated: (date) <br /> 7 Non-Exempt 1/2014 <br /> Positions Supervised: <br /> Assists in the supervision of Street Maintenance division and Equipment Services division <br /> employees. <br /> Position Summary <br /> The Lead Street Maintenance Operator assists with the administrative and supervisory needs of the <br /> division. S/he is responsible assists in managing day-to-day operations of maintenance,repair and <br /> construction programs for municipal streets and related facilities. This "working Lead"position is <br /> expected to assist employees in their daily tasks and activities as needed based on project timelines <br /> and staffing levels. Assumes the duties of the Street Superintendent in their absence. <br /> Work involves direction and oversight of employees in the performance of varied repair, <br /> maintenance, and construction activities. Work also involves administrative duties not limited to <br /> maintaining records, schedules,preparing quotes,and reports. Considerable independent judgment <br /> is required to identify work goals, daily tasks, and direct assignments. <br /> The Lead Street Maintenance Operator assists the Street Superintendent with planning,development <br /> and management of operations and maintenance programs to meet expected service levels and the <br /> most efficient means of service to the residents of Elk River. <br /> Essential Functions <br /> 1. Assists with supervisory duties. <br /> A. Plans, organizes and supervises the work of personnel involved in the maintenance, <br /> repair, equipment operation and construction activities for all city streets and right- <br /> of-way,including snowplowing, street patching, tree trimming,mowing and street <br /> signage. <br /> B. Provides timely and accurate information to maintenance crews through work orders <br /> and schedules. Maintains work order database to track projects. <br /> C. Advises supervisor and employees about problems,procedures,practices, and <br /> policies. <br /> D. Performs maintenance and labor work as necessary. <br /> E. Responds to after hours emergency calls and assigns personnel accordingly to ensure <br /> a quick response. <br /> F. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state,and local policies and <br /> procedures. <br /> G. Performs various skilled maintenance services as needed; oversees the repair and <br /> maintenance of equipment including all small tools,attachments,and vehicles. <br /> H. Responsible to know and enforce safety and other mandated regulations. <br /> I. Performs inspection duties for preventative purposes and quality control pertaining <br /> to streets, utilities, and related facilities. <br /> Page 1 <br />
