The St. Cloud Area Planning Organization's 2020 Plan recognizes the need to seek the optimum <br />balance of mobility, accessibility and safety. Providing for system efficiency as well as <br />intermodal transportation needs is recognized in the APO's statement of objectives. The 2020 <br />Plan also recommends minimizing adverse community impacts and cost. <br /> <br />S.7 PROJECT GOALS <br /> <br />The overall goal of the project is: To Meet the Future Transportation Needs of the Northstar <br />Corridor <br /> <br />Based on the issues summarized in the Problem Statement and transportation needs in the <br />corridor, the following goals have been established: <br /> <br />· Improve mobility and safety within the corridor. <br />· Minimize adverse environmental impacts and foster positive environmental effects. <br />· Encourage transportation-supportive land use development patterns. <br />· Provide a cost-effective and efficient transportation system. <br /> <br />The Northstar Corridor MIS will evaluate how well the alternative improvements under <br />consideration for the Corridor assist in achieving the area's goals. <br /> <br />Northstar Corridor Major Investment Study <br />Section 1 - Summary <br />10-28-98 <br /> <br />S-6 <br /> <br /> <br />
