8 November 2013 <br />RaeAnn Gardner <br />City of Elk River <br />Master City -wide Gateway and Wayfinding Proposal <br />Sub Consultant Hoisington Koegler Group Inc.(HKGi) <br />Hoisington Koegler Group <br />As an award winning planning, landscape architecture and urban design firm with offices in <br />Minneapolis. Established in 1982 HKGi is an S corporation with a staff of 10 Landscape Architects <br />and 4 community planners. For the City of Elk River Signage and Wayfinding Plan, HKGi brings <br />extensive experience in parks and recreation, community participation, transportation planning, <br />landscape architecture and wayfinding. Our knowledge of the City of Elk River, the <br />neighborhoods, the Elk River Parks and Recreation System Plan and park and recreation visitor <br />behavior which will help inform wayfinding design at the City of Elk River. <br />Services: <br />1. Assist VCI and the City of Elk River in the location and site design of gateways signs, major <br />park identification signs and specialty park signs. <br />2. Assist with the location of secondary signs. <br />3. Provide off -site and on -site review and analysis of city -wide and park and trail Way- <br />finding needs - destinations, origins, routes, sight lines, identity, safety, landmarks, visual <br />and landscape character, and decision making. <br />4. Assure integration of the way- finding plan with the Elk River Park and Trail Master Plan. <br />5. Assist VCI with sign hierarchy and the sign master plan. <br />6. Provide supporting landscape architecture design. <br />Grant and Funding Strategies <br />HKGi will assist in identifying potential sources of funding, such as grants and sponsorships, for the <br />installation of city -wide and gateway signage. Insight gained from the research will be used to <br />inform the components of the master plan to ensure the city is positioned as strongly as possible for <br />future grant applications.
