"Have attractive, <br />welcoming streetscapes at city entrances and primary corridors. Enforce zoning ordinances." <br />Under this goal, three capital improvement tasks were identified: <br />Cl: "Prepare plans to improve primary intersections with landscaping,lighting, and hardscaping." <br />C4: "Complete improvements to primary intersections." <br />C5: "Implement median and streetscape design and maintenance standards." <br />In the development of options, staff will attempt to respect several goals,including: <br />a. Interest in the form of texture, color,height throughout the year. <br />b. Low maintenance. <br />c. No negative impact to the traveling public, minimal disruption to adjacent businesses. <br />d. Cost. <br />Staff has identified a number of possible locations for the <br />2nd <br />phase of this project: <br />Highway 10 and Jackson Street—Add landscaping to soften the edge of the King Avenue <br />parking lot and on the north side of the Highway 10/Jackson Avenue intersection. <br />Highway 169 and School Street—Add landscaping similar to the project at Highway 169 and <br />Main Street. All four corners likely will not be landscaped due to existing ditch grades. <br />Southern face of Railroad Bridge Embankment,Northbound 169—Possible area for <br />entrance sign and landscaping. <br />Additional Funding <br />The MnDOT Community Roadside Landscaping Partnership Program provides funding for projects <br />occurring in MnDOT right-of-way.
