Steinman, Director of Economic <br />Development <br /> <br />October 12, 1998 <br /> <br />Proclamation - Manufacturers Week <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Manufacturers week is designed to showcase Minnesota's manufacturing <br />industries and to increase the general public's awareness of manufacturing's <br />importance in providing high wage, high skill jobs in our community. <br /> <br />Manufacturing employment is approximately 1,100 in Elk River based upon <br />information from the 1997 business retention and expansion surveys. <br />Manufacturing employment continues to grow as projects come on line: <br /> <br />· Sportech - 14jobs <br />· Dave Decker project - 30-40 jobs projected <br />· E & 0 Tool expansion - 7-10 jobs <br />· Ink Wizards - 2-3 jobs <br />· SuperMats (1999) - 7 jobs projected <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached proclamation declaring the week <br />of October 12-16, 1998, to be City of Elk River, Minnesota Manufacturers <br />Week. <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
