Consider Proper .ty Tax Abatement for Elk Path, LLC Professional Office Building Project <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE MOVED TO TABLE ITEMS 5.1 AND 5.2 <br />INDEFINITELY. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.3. Consider Bids for Public Safety, Facility and for City Hall/Utilities Addition <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat IGaers introduced this item. Gary Tushie of Tushie Montgomery <br />Architects (TMA) addressed the Council. He noted that the City has received competitive <br />bids for the projects. He stated that he is requesting that the Council award a majority of the <br />bids and that a few bids will be re-bid at a later date. The City Administrator indicated that <br />the Public Safety facility was over budget by approximately $560,000. He reviewed some of <br />the items that are proposed to be eliminated in the project to close the budget gap. The City <br />Administrator noted that there is a possibility of reducing the building reserve requirement <br />by insuring the bonds. He noted that if this happens, there will be more money available. If <br />more funds are not available, then the items listed by TMA will come back to the City <br />Council for action to be removed from the project. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the metal roof for the City Hall facility. Gary Tushie stated <br />that a metal has a longer life. Councilmember Motin indicated that he is not in favor of a <br />metal roof because he does not like the appearance. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE MOVED TO APPROVE THE BID PACKAGE <br />FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY AND CITY HALL AND UTILITIES <br />BUILDING AS PRESENTED BY KRAUS ANDERSON. COUNCILMEMBER <br />MOTIN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE METAL ROOF <br />FOR THE CITY HALL FACILITY. COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. 4-1. COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN OPPOSED. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kuester discussed the possibility of using environmental materials as much <br />as possible in the facilities. She requested that this be considered for the items that are being <br />re-bid. Councilmember Kuester suggested using landfill abatement funds for these items. <br /> <br /> <br />
