Individual store performance varies considerably from business to business based on a number of factors including: demographics; overall services offered; design and general condition of store; equipment types, condition, and vend price; hours of operation; parking; competition; and others. With these factors in mind it can be difficult to arrive at a definitive average applicable for every coin laundry. National surveys, studies, interviews, and analyses indicate a wide range of performance for individual stores. Performance is commonly expressed in terms of TPD (turns per day) which represents the number of times each machine is used during the given day. While this statistic varies widely based on the factors mentioned above, the full range for washing machines is generally from 2 TPD to 8 TPD, with a commonly reported average of 4 to 5 TPD for a successful coin laundry.
