Elk River
Municipal Utilities
13069 Orono Parkway
P.O. Box 430
Elk River, MN 55330
(763) 441-2020
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission David Berg—Water Superintendent
John Dietz, Chair
Daryl Thompson, Vice Chair
Allan Nadeau, Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
October 9, 2012 6.1
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
In August, the motor in Well 6 shorted out and stopped working. I had two options to fix it: Send
it to the manufacturer in California to repair it, but it could have taken up to two months to fix
and we would have gotten the same motor back, or the second option was to buy a new motor
and be able to get the well up and running within two weeks. The cost difference between the
two options was only about $1,000 more to buy new because the shipping and handling was so
expensive to California. I chose to spend the extra to buy a new motor and get the well back up
and running as soon as possible.
POWERED IT
Reliable Public
¢ INATUP
Power Provider POWERED To SERVE
