Park&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> April 11,2012 <br /> Commissioner Niziolek stated he believed the Houlton property should be looked at and is a <br /> great site. <br /> 7. Division Manager's Reports <br /> Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented the Elk River Senior Center and Ice Arena <br /> reports. <br /> Mr. Benoit also presented the Recreation report stating that the summer program guide had <br /> been completed and distributed to the Elk River Community. <br /> 8. Action Items <br /> 8.1. Major Park Use Request- Orono Park <br /> Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented a major park use request to use Orono Park for <br /> Hinotes Heroes Charity Event. Event will be held on Saturday July, 28th from 10:30am- <br /> 7:30pm with the proceeds raised being donated to charities. Staff recommends rental fees be <br /> waived,group work with Parks Maintenance Department on tent location and group will <br /> cover the cost of any additional fees such as extra trash cans or portable toilets. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER NYSTROM TO RECOMMEND TO CITY COUNCIL TO <br /> ACCEPT STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS OF RENTAL FEES WAIVED,GROUP TO <br /> WORK WITH PARKS DEPARTMENT ON TENT LOCATION AND GROUP TO <br /> COVER THE COST OF ANY ADDITIONAL FEES SUCH AS EXTRA TRASH CANS OR <br /> PORTABLE TOILETS. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> 8.2. Sherburne Soil&Water Conservation District Grant Presentation <br /> Resource Conservationist,Gina Hugo presented a proposed ecological management plan for <br /> Woodland Trails Park. Funding would be sought through a Minnesota DNR grant of <br /> $75,000. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KALLEMEYN TO RECOMMEND TO CITY COUNCIL TO <br /> APPROVE PURSUEING THE MINNESOTA DNR GRANT FOR$75,000 TO <br /> IMPLEMENT AN ECOLOGICALLY SENSITIVE BIOMASS HARVEST IN <br /> WOODLAND TRAILS PARK AND WORKING WITH TILLER CORPORATION TO <br /> HELP BRING THE COST DOWN. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER AHLNESS TO RECOMMEND TO CITY COUNCIL TO <br /> BUDGET ANNUALLY FOR BUCKTHORN REMOVAL TREATMENTS IN <br /> WOODLAND TRAILS PARK. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br />
