days after the completion of his or her military service. An employee called to active duty <br />for more than 180 days must report back to his or her job not more than 90 days after the <br />completion of his or her military service. <br />This Policy is not intended to preclude leave with pay as may be provided in the National <br />Guard and Reserve Leave Policy above. <br />Jury/Witness Duty Leave <br />Employees will be allowed a leave of absence pursuant to state statutes without restriction <br />or sanction when called for jury duty. <br />• An employee performing jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness in court or <br />voluntarily serving as a witness on behalf of the city in a case in which the city is a <br />party will receive the difference between his/her regular rate of pay and the amount <br />received as juror or witness up to the maximum allowed by state or federal law. <br />• The employee must notify his/her supervisor and complete a leave of absence form <br />within 48 hours of receiving call for jury duty. <br />• An employee excused or released from jury duty during his/her regular work hours <br />must report to his/her supervisor immediately thereafter. <br />• Time spent on jury duty will not count as time worked in computing overtime. <br />Bereavement Leave <br />Regular full-time and regular part-time employees working a minimum of 1,040 hours per <br />year are permitted a paid Bereavement leave when a death occurs in their family. <br />Bereavement leave is prorated for eligible regular, part-time employees according to the <br />number of hours worked. <br />Leave with pay is limited to the following: <br />Up to five (5) days Husband, wife, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, <br />stepmother, stepfather, Stepson, Stepdaughter, Stepbrother, <br />and Stepsister <br />Up to three (3) days Son-In-Law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, <br />grandparent, or grandchild <br />One (1) day Aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, brother-in- <br />law, Godchild, grandparents-in-law. <br />Additional time off for bereavement leave may be granted and charged to vacation leave or <br />compensatory time, if available. Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement <br />shall receive bereavement benefits as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. <br />General Leave <br />The city recognizes that circumstances of a unique personal nature may cause an employee <br />to seek time off without pay. The city may, at its sole discretion, grant unpaid personal <br />leaves of absence to employees (General Leave). Approval is required of the employee's <br />immediate supervisor, the department director and the city administrator before General <br />
