PROJECT EXPERIENCE

MOUND. MINNESOTA
During the early 20th Century, passenger steamers shuttled tourists from "the Big Lake," Lake Minnetonka, through Lost Lake Canal
and into Downtown Mound. These excursions afforded visitors the opportunity to spend a leisurely day along the shores of Lost Lake.
Seeking to recreate that pedestrian village experience, the City of Mound and HKGi developed Mound Visions as a plan to revitalize
Downtown Mound. Mound Visions draws inspiration from the Lake's resort-era history.
Lost Lake Canal and Greenway is a key element of that revitalization vision. Lost Lake Greenway winds through restored wetlands along
the north shore of Lost Lake. Its focal is the Central Green, ahistorically-inspired boardwa-k and pier structure specially designed by
HKGi. Featuring garden plantings, engraved pavers, crosshatched brickwork and a circular boardwalk and pier structure, the Central
Green will become the town plaza, a Mound landmark connecting the canal from Lake Minnetonka, wetlands and the adjacent mixed-
usedevelopment in Downtown.
