City Council Minutes Page 2 <br />February 6, 2012 <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />5. Open Forum <br />No one appeared for open forum. <br />6.1 Volunteer of the Month (for Januar~, <br />Mayor Dietz presented the Volunteer of the Month for January, 2012, to Mary Keifenheim. <br />He provided Mary's service background as follows: <br />^ Volunteer at CAER since its opening 30 years ago <br />^ Volunteer for Gifts Anonymous for 25 years <br />^ Served two terms as Chair on the Library Board <br />^ Chaired Green Space Community to beautify downtown <br />^ Volunteer for Meals on Wheels <br />^ Volunteer at the library <br />6.1.a Letter of Recognition to the Elk River Police Department <br />Mayor Dietz read aloud a letter he received from Paradigm Residential Services, Inc. <br />Paradigm provides foster care services at a residence on Ulysses Street to patients with <br />traumatic brain injuries and mental health problems. Paradigm's owners, Rosie and Don <br />Barnes, expressed their appreciation to the officers of the Elk River Police Department and <br />how they treat their patients with understanding and patience. Mayor Dietz and the Council <br />thanked them for their service to Paradigm. <br />6.2 Recognize Donation of Police K-9 Body Armor <br />Chief Rolfe introduced Officer Bebeau and Zeus, his K-9 dog, who was wearing the new K- <br />9body armor which had been donated by Karla and Pat Reinhart of Isanti County. A plaque <br />was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart recognizing their generous donation. (Phis item. was <br />recalled after 7.1.) <br />7.1 Sherburne County/Prosecuting Attorney Update (Kath~Heaney/Scott Baumgartner) <br />County Attorney Kathleen Heaney and City Prosecutor Scott Baumgartner were present to <br />review Elk River statistics as presented in the staff report. <br />6.2 Recognize Donation of Police K-9 Body Armor <br />Mayor Dietz recalled this item to pass the resolution accepting the donation. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER WESTGAARD AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER ZERWAS TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 12-08 <br />ACKNOWLEDGING CONTRIBUTION TO THE ELK RIVER POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT FROM KARLA AND PAT REINHART WITH THE <br />DONATION OF K-9 BODY ARMOR FOR K-9 ZEUS. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
