immediately. Asbestos removal is anticipated to take three days and demolition can begin immediately <br />after. This process is completed within the building and will not affect downtown businesses. After <br />asbestos removal, the demolition will take place and the site will be backfilled. Staff anticipates <br />demolition to begin complete no latex than January 5. Elk River Meats is closed for business December <br />25 through January 7. <br />Staff will be meeting with Veit to outline the details of the process, including but not limited to: parking <br />lot access, securing of the site, business dumpsters, etc. Staff will continue to work with the downtown <br />businesses to sure the information is communicated. <br />FUTURE USE <br />At the November HRA meeting, the HRA authorized staff to look into alternative uses fox the site <br />should the buildings be removed. Site clean-up will not limit future use(s) at this point. Staff will <br />research options and will return to the HRA at a later date fox discussion. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />'The HRA should consider a budget amendment in the amount of $59,600 to the Building <br />Repair/Maintenance line item in the HRA budget.
