-~..\~ ~ <br />ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Energy City Commissioners <br />FROM: Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator <br />DATE: November 9, 201 I <br />SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder & Staff Updates -November 16, 201 I <br />This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. in the <br />Uppertown Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. The agenda and October minutes are attached. <br />STAFF UPDATES <br />ENERGY EXPO <br />Staff and members of the Energy Expo Planning Subcommittee met with members of the Elk River Chamber of <br />Commerce Business Expo Planning Cotmnittee on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. It was a very good meeting <br />with a lot of dialogue. The main points of the meeting were as follows: <br />• Is the ECC interested in combining the Expos? <br />o Expo members expressed concerns about losing the identity of Energy City and concern about <br />losing the non-profits due to the Chamber prices. <br />o Also concern about public just wanting free stuff, not wanting to learn anything <br />• How would the logistics work? <br />o The Chamber was willing to take all registrations and take care of set-up <br />o The Chamber would also do some advertising for the Energy section <br />• How would expenses work? <br />o Chamber uses the event as a fundraiser so they would keep all funds <br />o Sponsorships were discussed fox covering the non-profits and banners <br />• Where would the Energy section be located? <br />o This was not resolved during the meeting <br />• Would there still be the opportunity for a Keynote Speaker? <br />o Michael Fuxtman would be able to be the I{eynote Speaker if he is available on the date of the event <br />• Would there be room for the ECFE and Community Ed to offer their activities? <br />o The Community Room would be avaiable. <br />o There was concern about activities occurring down the hallways <br />• When would the Expo be held? <br />o The Chamber always holds their events on Sundays so either March 11 or their scheduled date of <br />March 25. <br />• What next? <br />o The Subcommittee stated that they would like to discuss this with the ECC before making any <br />decisions. <br />
