i ~ ~ r+ <br />~'' <br />ELK ~[,VERAREA <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />RESOLUTION 11-O1 <br />RESOLUTION FOR <br />THE ELK RIVER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ENERGY CITY COMMISSION, <br />AS AN ASSET TO THE ELK RIVER COMMUNITY <br />WHEREAS, Elk River's history has long been shaped in large part by ENERGY <br />beginning when Ard Godfrey built a dam, saw mill acid grist mill where he <br />saw the potential for water power and, <br />WHEREAS, The Minnesota Environmental Initiative named Ellc River• as Energy City <br />in 1997 providing state and national recognition of the energy <br />conservation programs and related businesses, and, <br />WHEREAS, Energy City has provided resources and demonstrations of cutting edge <br />tecluiologies to residents, companies and leaders from around the state, <br />country and globe and <br />WHEREAS, Energy conservation programs and projects provide an attraction for like- <br />minded individuals and businesses thereby helping to grow the business <br />base of Elk River, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the Chatnber•'s charge to advocate for its members. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Elk River Area Chamber of <br />Commerce supports Energy City's mission to promote the Elk River community, energy <br />efficiency, recycling, green resources and renewable energy initiatives through active <br />encouragement, demonstrations and education. <br />Adopted by unanimous vote of the Board of Directors of the Elk River Area Chamber of <br />Commerce this 18`x' day of October, 2011 <br />risha Mowry, Ch 'r Debbi Rydberg, cutive rector <br />
