Noce about conversion to NAICB: The time series of average weekly manufacturing hours and weekly manufacturing earnings were affected by the January 2003 conversion of the
Current Employment Statistics ICES) Program to the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICSI; roughly 50,000 jobs that were classifed as manufacturing under the SIC system
are now classifed innon-manufacturing sectors under NAICS. Hours and earnings data have been reconstructed back to 2001 only. However, the usefulness of the index in tracking
Minnesota's economy appears to be unaffected by the NAICS conversion-based on 2001 and 2002 data, the difference between reconstructed hours and the original hours is minimal.
