9.Video Presentation System

Rich Czech, Arena Manager, noted that the video presentation took place with
limited success. The lighting in the rink did not provide for a very good
picture. Discussion took place about the presentation and the results. It was
noted that maybe once that the lighting system was changed out, this type of
video presentation could then be implemented.

10.Advertising

Discussion took place about the possibility of allowing Elk River Booster Club to sub
lease a couple of advertising spaces on the rink. Rich Czech, Arena manager, noted a
few concerns. One, would we then allow other groups such as Youth Hockey, the
Girls booster club, and Skate Club to do the same? Two, they would be competing
against the same customers that rent advertising space in the Arena now. Rich
reviewed his recommendation to the Commission, allow each organization six signs.
The first three would be sold at the regular price, and the second one would be
discounted 30%, for a total of six signs. The second sign would only be allowed in
the barn or along the Westside of the Olympic rink.

The consensus of the Commission is that there are other fundraising activities that
these non profits organization could explore and that the extra work that would add to
the staff time is not worth the Arena’s staff time.

11.New Zamboni

Arena Manager, Rich Czech noted that the bid for the Ice Resurfacer came in about
9% over budget. However with the trade in value of the machine, $7,000.00 -
$9,500.00, the cost of the machine should be within 1% of the budget. He also noted
that the council approved the purchase of the machine and that the machine should be
delivered sometime in October. Discussion took place regarding keeping the machine
for the outdoor rinks. However Rich Czech noted that if we were to keep the
machine, a building (garage) would have to built to house the machine the building
would need to be heated and large enough to store the machines supplies as well as
water heater large enough to supply of hot water to resurface the rinks.
