Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />Apxd 13, 2011 <br />Page 4 <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit showcased the volunteers from the Senior Activity <br />Centex and National Volunteer Week. <br />8.2. Park/Program Highlights <br />Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared the Pinewood Golf Course was now open <br />for business. <br />8.3. SHIP Grant Update <br />Recreation Coordinator, Stephanie Albin discussed the SHIP Grant that is for <br />$25,000 for the Parks & Trails Wayfmding Plan. <br />9. City Council/Planning Commission Review/Updates <br />Mayor Dietz shared that the City had been approached to be a part of Hockey Day <br />in Minnesota. If Elk River is chosen as a host it will be in 2014 and held at Handke <br />Stadium. <br />Mayor Dietz reported that the Ice Arena is in need of many repairs and upgrades, the <br />292 Group has been hired to do an analysis of the entire building so projects can be <br />considered and prioritized in the future. <br />10. Other Business <br />10.1. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair <br />Commissioner Jakex nominated Commissioner Anderson for Chair position. <br />Commissioner Anderson accepted nomination. <br />Comrrussioner Jaker nominated Cormnissionex Niziolek for Vice-Chair position. <br />Commissioner Niziolek accepted nomination. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER JAKER AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER AHLNESS TO ELECT COMMISSIONER <br />ANDERSON AS CHAIR AND COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK OF PARKS <br />AND RECREATION COMMISSION. MOTION CARRIED G-0 <br />10.2. Annual Report Update <br />Planner/Park Planner, Chris Leesebexg discussed the City's Annual Report that is <br />currently posted on the City's website; highlighting the 2010 volunteers. <br />11. Adjournment <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:58pm. <br />
