THE MOTION CARRIED .F,- <br />0. <br /> <br />Consider 1998 Bud,qet and Tax Levy <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers stated that the City Council is requested fo adopt a <br />budget resolution which would approve the 1998 general fund budget and to <br />adopt a tax levy resolution which authorizes the final tax levy for 1998. He <br />indicated that the issue to be determined is whether or not the Council wishes to <br />create a reserve for special projects and how much money the Council wants <br />to designate for this reserve. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman requested comments from the public regarding the general <br />fund levy and budget. There were no comments regarding either of these <br />issues. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Farber and Holmgren indicated they were in favor of using the <br />entire $149,650 for special capital projects. Councilmember Thompson <br />suggested using $75,000 of the $149,650 if it were earmarked for a specific <br />project. Councilmember Dietz indicated he would be in favor of using $75,000 if <br />the money were earmarked for the Lake Orono project. <br /> <br />MAYOR DUITSMAN MOVED THAT $149,650 BE DELETED FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />TAX REVENUE LINE ITEM AS DISCUSSED ON NOVEMBER 3, 1997, AND THAT A <br />RESERVE ACCOUNT BE ESTABLISHED IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 IN TAX REVENUE <br />TO BE USED FOR CERTAIN CAPITAL PROJECTS WHICH WILL BE DETERMINED AT A <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT WORKSESSION. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-2. P 97-18 <br /> <br />City Planner Steve Ach indicated that Country Ridge, Inc. is requesting a <br />preliminary plat to subdivide approximately 20 acres into one industrial lot and <br />one outlot at the location of the northwest corner of Joplin Street and 183~d <br />Avenue.
