e <br /> <br />Sediment Loading Analysis <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />The sediment and phosphorus mass flowrates were used to calculate the net annual loadings of <br />the sediment and phosphorus. The calculations were done for TSS, VSS, TSS-VSS, phosphorus, <br />and ortho phosphorus. Mass inflows were calculated at ERCR 15 and TBCR 35, and mass <br />outflows were calculated at the Lake Orono dam. The calculations are shown in Appendix D. <br />The calculation procedure is explained below: <br /> <br />ao <br /> <br />The average inflow rate (mass/day) for the time interval between two consecutive <br />sampling events was calculated by adding the two inflow rates, and then dividing the sum <br />by two. Similarly, the average outflow rate (mass/day) for the time interval between two <br />consecutive sampling events was calculated by adding the two outflow rates, and dividing <br />the sum by two. <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />The mass inflow for the time interval was calculated by multiplying the average inflow <br />rate (mass/day) by the time duration between the sampling events (days). The mass <br />outflow for the time interval was calculated by multiplying the average outflow rate <br />(mass/day) by the time duration between the sampling dates (days). <br /> <br />The mass inflows for all the time intervals were added to get the annual mass inflow. The <br />mass outflows for all the time intervals were added to get the annual mass outflow. <br /> <br />The annual mass inflow and the annual outflow were divided by the number of days <br />(365 days) to get the average mass inflow and outflow rates (tons/day) respectively. <br /> <br />eo <br /> <br />The inflow of bed load was calculated as a percent of the inflow of suspended load.
