Business Center Concentrated Patrol

In this component we would like to see a decrease in the number of thefts from vehicles and
tampering with motor vehicles in the mall areas along highway 169. We would also like to see a
decrease in the number of complaints generated by both the business owners and customers. We
would probably expect to see an increase in the number of trespassing citations issued at these
locations also. This too would be evaluated by an'est and crime statistics.

In regards to the concentrated patrols at the businesses located on highway 10, we don't believe
that there would be as great of a deterrent factor because it would involve primarily surveillance.
We do believe that there should be an increase in arrests for motor vehicle thefts, tampering with
motor vehicles, thefts from motor vehicles, and damage to property from this specific area with a
decrease in these crimes as a welcome side effect.

Drug Investigation and Interdiction

This component would be evaluated on how many simple drug possession arrests lead to
additional investigations and/or arrests. We think that a side effect of a couple of successful
additional arrests fi.om a simple possession arrest would be that patrol officers would be more
aggressive with their drag intervention tactics. That in turn would lead to more additional
investigations and/or arrests. It would also be evaluated by how many 'miscellaneous drug
information' calls are investigated instead of being taken 'as information'. Cases opened, arrest,
and crime statistics would evaluate our goals. We could also see an increase in the amount of
'drug information' fi.om citizens.

2
