Rivers Edge Meeting Minutes January 12, 201.1 <br />Meeting was called to order at 3PM at Arts Alliance Classroom. Members present: Nicole Fox (Nicole's <br />Salon), Sandi Yeado (Edward Jones), Jim Rudolph(Bank of Elk River), Annie Deckert (City of ER <br />Marketing and Business Development Administrator), Wendy Simenson (Kemper Drug)Tony Mikols <br />(Dare's), Stephanie Albin (City of ER Park and Rec),John Stander, Fred McCoy, Tanna Anderson (First <br />National Bank), Terri Cook, Denise(The Great Room) <br />Treasurer's Report: $3,287.01 <br />Secretary's Report: Abbreviated minutes from last meeting were accepted. With the correction on the <br />ArtSoup date to Saturday June 18, 2011. <br />City Update: Annie Deckert brought us information on upcoming City events: <br />Free Foreclosure Forum on Saturday January 15th from 9-11 at the Elk River YMCA. Free daycare for <br />children. <br />Trim Your Waste Line January 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 AM at Great River Energy in Elk River. Learn how <br />your business can save money, reduce waste, and conserve water. Refreshments will be served and attendees <br />will receive an Energy City High Five award. This is a free event. <br />Elk River will be holding it's 5th Annual Energy Expo, featuring Ron Schara from MN Bound, and his dog <br />Raven. This is a free event that features energy related businesses. This event will be held at the Elk River <br />High School, on Saturday, March 5th from 10:00am to 2:OOpm. Contact 763-635-1000 if you're interested in <br />being an exhibitor or sponsor for the event. <br />Annie showed us a petition that was being signed to put the Historic nonfunctional water tower in Downtown <br />Elk River on the 2011 Minnesota Register of Historic Places. Upkeep on the water tower is very costly. It is <br />coated in lead paint. If it gets put on the Historic Register, there are grants available to pay for its upkeep. <br />Sandi moved and Deb seconded that the RiversEdge Group should sign the petition. The motion carried. <br />10 units in the Bluffs are currently rented out. Sixteen more units are going to be finished to rent out. <br />EDA has authorized a branding subcommittee for the City of Elk River. Surveys will go out to different <br />groups to see what the perception of Elk River is and to help the City identify and create a unified message to <br />communicate with the community, businesses and outside audiences. Wendy was appointed as a member of <br />the committee and will represent the Downtown RiversEdge Group and the Arts Alliance. <br />Readers Digest is having a "We hear you America" contest. lrttp:~`,iwehea~•youamertca readersdi~est.cotn.; <br />Cheer for your towns chance to win a share of 5 million dollars in funds and community support. CHEER <br />FOR YOUR TOWN <br />When you cheer your city, it will be placed into one of the following four municipal categories: <br />(1) population of 500,000 or more. <br />(2) population of 250,000 - 499,999 <br />(3) population of 100,000 - 249,999 population, and <br />(4) population of 99,999 or less. <br />Municipal prizes will be awarded in each of these categories. When you cheer your city for the chance to win <br />one of the municipal prizes, you will also be entering yourself to win one of the personal prizes.
