Introduction Best wishes for the New Year from MMUA! With a new Governor, a new Minnesota Legislature, and a new Con- gress all ready to hit the ground running, 2011 promises to be a very interesting and busy year. The beginning of the year is a good time to look ahead and anticipate what the new year will bring, and it's also a good time to reflect on what we accomplished in the year that just ended. As always, thanks for your membership, your support, your enthusiasm, and your participation. MMUA is the embodiment of the phrase, "From many into one ...." By working together, many small municipal utilities across the state are able to speak with a strong voice and make themselves heard. By combining efforts we can accom- plish so much more than we could acting alone. Thanks to you, we are able to demonstrate every day that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We hope that you will enjoy this opportunity to look back with us over the course of 2010 and review some of the -Jack Kegel highlights of a very busy year. We think we have a lot MMUA Executive Director to be proud of, and we know that we have a lot of work ahead of us in 2011. In 2010 we said goodbye to three em- ployees who moved on to retirement. Director of Education Bonnie Hayes, MMUA'slongest serving staff member, retired after 28 years of service. Regional Safety Coordi- nators Norm Hauschildt and Mike Nemes also retired at the end of the year. Doug Walton and John Marz kept an eye on things at the 2010 MMUA Overhead School. Rita Kelly, MMUA's sec- ond longest serving staff member, has assumed many of Bonnie's duties. Her new title is Director of Administration. Larry Pederson joined MMUA as Director of Finance in September, bringing us the benefit of his strong background in account- ing and financial man- agement.
