Kennedy <br />Memorial Rink <br />Barnstable, Massachusetts <br />:,,{ <br />._ <br />The Town of Barnstable sought a multipurpose sports venture named <br />in honor of Lt. Joseph P Kennedy who lost his life while serving in Us <br />Air Force during WWII in the Pacific. <br />The existing facility was alaminate/wood structured roof covering <br />an open air space that had a multipurpose concrete floor that was <br />used for seasonal covered events. The Town commissioned a Design <br />Study for enclosing the existing facility, making it a year-round <br />Community Center and adding a second indoor ice arena with 650 <br />seats. The Town's program also included new offices for the Parks and <br />Recreation Department, a central lobby, new locker rooms, rest rooms, <br />community meeting rooms, concession areas, and additional parking. <br />*The project was designed by Architect Chuck Freiberg while in prior <br />association. <br />htg-architects.com <br />F~~ i <br />
