a <br />i <br />i <br />i <br /> <br />St.Thomas Academy Ice Arena <br />Mendota Heights, Minnesota <br />...~ <br />:JA <br />Size: 36,550 SF - $4.8 million <br />Sitting atop a hill overlooking the Mississippi/Minnesota River Valleys, <br />the St. Thomas Academy Ice Arena is "home ice" to the St Thomas <br />Academy boys' high school hockey program, as well as the University <br />of St Thomas Division III NCAA men`s and women's hockey programs. <br />The arena consists of a single NHL sized rink with 1,500 permanent <br />seats. There are three varsity locker rooms and four youth hockey <br />locker rooms under the seats. The facility also has coaching offices, <br />weights and conditioning room, on site physical therapy room, and <br />team meeting rooms. <br />In addition to the lobby/concession area there is, on the south end of <br />the rink, an Alumni Room used by the alumni association for pre- and <br />post-game celebrations, as well as a team parties. <br />The site was designed to also accommodate a second sheet to the <br />west of the original arena. The arena is an NHL size (85 x 200) rink, <br />supported with a storage room for the dasher boards during the off <br />seasons, a refrigeration room, and an ice re-surfacer room. Future <br />plans include alobby/warming house/locker room facility. <br />The St Thomas Arena opened in September of 2003. Shortly after <br />the opening, the Cadets of St Thomas Academy went on to win back <br />to back championships in the Minnesota State High School Hockey <br />Championships. <br />*The project was designed by Architect Chuck Freiberg while in prior <br />association. <br />htg-architects.com <br />• <br /> <br />architects • <br />
