The project was a single NHL size facility to be built
on city park property across from Waconia High School.
The arena was completed in time for the 2008 skating season. The
design included eight youth hockey locker rooms. The arena has 650
permanent seats and an upper standing rail allowing for 150/200
additional spectators. The arena features a lower level enclosed
viewing section at the east end of the rink. There are four remaining
youth hockey locker rooms and a referee locker room. On the west
end of the rink is a warming room with concessions and rest rooms
that will serve a future out door refrigerated sheet of ice.
The arena lobby has two separate concession spaces; both serve the
lobby, but one also serves an exterior plaza used in the summer by the
outdoor participants in park activities. The lobby also supports a small
pro-shop and two community meeting rooms.
*The project was designed by Architect Chuck Freiberg while in prior
association .
htg-architect~.com
~ ~
