Pagel Center Ice Arena
Minnetonka, Minnesota
,.f,
.~,
Size: 50,736 SF - $5.9 million
The Pagel Center opened behind Minnetonka High School in
September 2001.The Pagel Center is a public and private development
used by both the Youth Hockey Association and the High School
through fees.
The arena houses a single NHL sized (85 x 200) sheet of ice with 1,200
retractable bleacher seats. The ground floor also houses the public
lobby, offices, public restrooms, and tickets and concession areas that
serve both inside for Hockey events, as well as outside, for football,
lacrosse, and soccer events. There is a second floor to Pagel with a
weights and conditioning room and suspended running track around
the rink. The high school uses these facilities during the school day
for their wellness and conditioning classes. Minnetonka residents also
have access to these facilities on a fee basis.
The facilitywas originally designed to be used as an indoor filed house
by the school district when the ice came out after the hockey season.
The seats would be rolled back, the dasher boards removed, and the
field house was ready for batting practice, indoor track practice, and
baseball try-outs. After the first year of operation it became apparent
that the demand for ice time was such that the ice would not come
out over the off season again.
*The project was designed by Architect Chuck Freiberg while in prior
association.
htg-architects.com
~ .~ ; ~_ •
~° a chitects
