Mayor Duitsman also requested staff <br />consult the city attorney regarding the city ordinance and how or if these <br />requests can be accommodated. <br /> <br />4.2. Consider Request to Hire Planninq Intern <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers referred to the memo from City Planner Steve Ach <br />detailing the process in hiring a planning intern. He indicated Steve Ach is <br />recommending a one year internship at $11 per hour. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER <br />INTERN AT $11 PER <br />COUNCILMEMBER <br /> <br />FARBER MOVED TO HIRE BRADY HALVERSON AS THE PLANNING <br />HOUR FOR THE ONE YEAR INTERNSHIP POSITION. <br />HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4.3. Consider Si.qnal at 197th Avenue and Highway 169 <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer stated that bids have been received for the traffic <br />control system at 197th Avenue and Highway 169. Terry indicated the iow bid was <br />from Electric Service Company in the amount of $157,846.30. Terry stated that <br />no order will be placed until a contract is awarded. Terry also indicated that <br />there is an expected delay in ordering equipment. It may be December or <br />possibly February before the equipment would be received and would not be <br />installed until early spring. Terry distributed the bid tabulations and a resolution <br />accepting the Iow bid. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 97-60, A <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT IN THE <br />MATTER OF THE T.H. 169/197TM AVENUE IMPROVEMENT OF 1997. COUNCILMEMBER <br />FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-1. Councilmember Dietz <br />opposed. <br /> <br />4.1. Consider 1998 Fire Relief Benefit Amount <br /> <br />Randy Sykes presented a request on behalf of the Fire Relief Association to <br />increase the benefit level from $2,500 per year of service to $2,674. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO APPROVE THE FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION'S <br />REQUEST FOR AN INCREASE IN THE PER YEAR OF SERVICE PENSION BENEFIT TO <br />$2,674. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO RELEASE THE CITY OF ELK RIVER'S 1997 <br />CONTRIBUTION OF $17,500 TO THE FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION. COUNCILMEMBER <br />FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4.4. Consider Bids for Liquor Store Security System <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO POSTPONE CONSIDERATION OF THE BIDS FOR <br />THE LIQUOR STORE SECURITY SYSTEM UNTIL THE JULY 21, 1997 CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br /> <br />
