MEMORANDUM

To: City Council

From: Dick Erickson, Pastor Central Lutheran

Date: April 23, 1997

I would be at this meeting if I didn't have to lead a community grief/support group this
evening.

It is my hope that we will have the hindsight to construct a fence and bridge system on
Highway 169. If I had my way, we would also have a bridge over School Street as well.

It is crucial for the welfare of our community that we be proactive in the awareness of
the values and the threat inherent in the growth of housing and commerce on both sides
of this hectic highway.

In a city that is under question as to its valuing of children, we must be conscious of the
presence of those who walk and run - not only of those who drive as we thrive.

Dear Crossings are a must for a community that cares.

Richard D. Erickson
