Commissioner Scott stated he felt a way could be found to <br />meet the property owner's needs without negatively impacting the neighboring residents. <br />Commissioner Ives stated that his wus comfortable with the change, since it was consistent <br />with the Comprehensive Plan. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LEMKE AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ZONE <br />CHANGE REQUEST BY GRE TO REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM R3 <br />(TOWNSHOUSE/MUULTIPLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO I1 (LIGHT <br />INDUSTRIAL). MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br />5.2. <br />Mr. Barnhart presented the staff report. He noted that properryownexs affected bythe zone <br />change should see no change in their use of the property. Staff recommended approval of <br />the zone change as described in the draft ordinance attached to the staff report. <br />Chair Westberg opened the public hearing. <br />Lee Fredrickson, owner of Lee's Riverside Auto -expressed concern that the rezoning <br />will impact his property. Mr. Barnhart explained that his property along I~ighway 10 was <br />currently zoned I-pighway Commercial and that would not change, and that his lots currently • <br />zoned Light Industrial will now be General Industrial. <br />There being no other public comments, Chair Westberg closed the public hearing. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER BELL AND SECONDED BY COMISSIONER <br />LEMKE TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE REZONING OF CERTAIN <br />PROPERTY FROM I1 (LIGHT INDUSTRIAL) AND I2 (MEDIUM <br />INDUSTRIAL TO I3 (GENERAL INDUSTRIAL) AS PRESENTED IN THE <br />STAFF REPORT. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br />53. Request by City of Elk River for Ordinance Amendment Relating to Definitions for Signs, <br />Case No. OA 01-08 <br />Chris Leeseberg presented the staff report. He stated this request is to include and/or <br />modifyseveral definitions that were inadvertently omitted in the final adopted sign <br />ordinance in June. He noted that Planning Commission previously reviewed and approved <br />these changes. <br />Chair Westberg opened the public hearing. There being no public comment, Chair <br />Westberg closed the public hearing. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER IVES AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />JOHNSON TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE REQUEST BY THE CITY <br />OF ELK RIVER FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT RELATING TO SIGNS • <br />AS PRESENTED IN THE STAFF REPORT. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br />
