Lake Orono Watershed Drainage <br /> <br />Stephen Rohlf indicated that the high fecal count in Lake Orono will be monitored <br />by the Soil and Water Conservation District, the Elk River Watershed Board and <br />the MPCA. He encouraged the County Board to look at the possibility of <br />implementing some type of joint funding with Benton County to help take care of <br />some of the problems along the river. <br /> <br />B. Ditch 28 <br /> <br />Brian Benson indicated that Ditch #10 has been abandoned and turned over to the <br />City. He indicated that Ditch 28 continues to be a problem and the County has <br />continued to patch the ditch but does not have a solution for a permanent fix. He <br />requested the City Council to consider taking over part of Ditch 28. Mayor I~inzing <br />indicated that the City would not be interested in taking over the ditch if there were <br />no solutions for a permanent fix. The Council and County Board discussed the <br />possibility of adopting an ordinance that would expand the ditch right-of-way to <br />fifty feet to allow maintenance equipment to access the area to work on the ditches. <br /> <br />C. Landfill Activities <br /> <br />Stephen Rohlf and Dave Lucas (county staff) updated the County on landfill <br />activities. <br /> <br />D. RDF Contracts <br /> <br />Brian Benson provided an update on the RDF contracts. <br /> <br />Miscellaneous/Other Business <br /> <br />A. Legislative Update <br /> <br />Patrick I~aers and Brian Benson provided an update on legislative issues and how <br />they affect the City and County. <br /> <br />B. County Fairground <br /> <br />Brian Benson informed the Council that the County is working with a college <br />architect to develop a site in Becker for the fairground but that funding remains an <br />issue. No timetable for a move has been set. Councilmember Dietz strongly <br />encouraged the County to keep the fairgrounds in Elk River. <br /> <br />C. GIS Program <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer provided an update on the City's GIS program. <br /> <br /> <br />
