City Council Minutes
October 22, 2001

Page 3

-----------------------------

The Council discussed the issue of the percentage of the unreserved balance in the general
fund. The draft plan recommended a 45% unreserved balance. Mayor Klinzing indicated
that the present level of 41 % was sufficient. Councilmembers Motin, Tveite, and Dietz
indicated that they were comfortable with the 45% recommendation, and that they would
like to see the present 41 % increased slowly year by year to 45%. Councilmember Tveite
indicated his concern with an ongoing obligation with establishing a minimum amount.

It was the consensus of the Council to delete items 9.2 and 9.3 from the plan and to delete
the reference to Ehlers & Associates from items 11.12 and 11.13.

7. Other Business

There was no other business.

8. Staff Updates

There were no staff updates.

9. Adjournment

There being no further business, Mayor Klinzing adjourned the meeting of the Elk River
City Council at 8:50 p.m.

jLcLi[~

"j
//>
I J7 'll
"L(~.
