Drug and Alcohol Policy Memo
November 20, 1995
Page 3
----------------------------------------------
• CONTACT PERSON...
On October 16, 1995, the City Council appointed the City Clerk as the
Designated Contact Person for the City's Drug and Alcohol Program.
Because of the types of personnel and confidential issues that are involved in
this program, it is the recommendation of the City Attorney that Assistant
City Administrator Lori Johnson be the contact person for any confidential
issues relating to drug and alcohol testing. The City Clerk will be available
to answer any questions relating to the program, and to coordinate the
testing, however, results of the tests will be received by the Assistant City
Administrator. Also, any discussion with the Medical Review Officer or
Substance Abuse Professional will be handled through the Assistant City
Administrator's Office.
ACTION RECOMMENDED:
The Council has three options:
1. Motion to adopt the policy as proposed.
2. Motion to adopt the policy with amendments as recommended by
the Council.
3. Take no action at this time (the Council must adopt a policy by
December 31.)
s: \council \drugmemo. doe
r:
