Northstar Corridor Development Authority <br />Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 7, 2001 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />John Himle, Himle Horner, reviewed the results of a survey they conducted of 600 randomly <br />selected households (May 18-24, 2001) along the Northstar Commuter Rail Corridor. The following <br />key findings were discussed: <br /> <br />a) Residents were concerned about congestion <br />b) Will take more than just highway improvements <br />c) Strong local support for Northstar Com~xmter Rail <br />d) Strong support among all political party affiliations <br />e) Residents perceive multiple uses for Northstar <br /> <br />Mary Richardson noted that, as directed in NCDA Resolution #2001-01, NCDA staff have prepared <br />the documents necessary to transfer the Northstar Corridor Commuter Rail Project to Mn/DOT. Ms. <br />Richardson reviewed a draft report on the status of the Northstar Corridor Commuter Rail Project, <br />the Risk and Liability Assessment Report and the Preliminary Financial Program Audit dated June 7, <br />200l. <br /> <br />The NCDA presented a Certification of Appreciation to Tim Yantos, Northstar Corridor Rail Project <br />Director, for his dedication, leadership and tenacity in working to make rail a reality in the Northstar <br />Corridor. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the future role of the Northstar Corridor Development Authority. The <br />Authority expressed their desire to continue to receive all meeting notices and agendas. Mr. Billings <br />asked if the future role of the NCDA should be to concentrate on other multi-modal issues. Mr. <br />Yantos noted that staffwill be meeting with individual members to discuss what the members' feel <br />the NCDA's future role should be. <br /> <br />Betsy Wergin notified the members that the American Legion l0th District passed a Resolution at <br />their convention in support of the Northstar Corridor project. <br /> <br />A letter from Congressman Oberstar was distributed congratulating the NCDA on their work on the <br />Northstar Corridor Project. <br /> <br />Position descriptions are available of Mn/Dot personnel who will be working on the NCDA project. <br />The Executive Committee will review the descriptions and make a summary available at the August, <br />2001 NCDA meeting.
