MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item <br /> <br />4°6° <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Scott Harlicker, Senior Plann~/ <br />May 21, 2001 <br /> <br />Northstar Corridor Update <br /> <br />At the NCDA meeting held on May 3rd a brief update was presented on the status of <br />legislation affecting Northstar Corridor. The reorganization with MnDOT is proceeding <br />and the NCDA approved Mn/DOT taking over contracts relating to engineering, and <br />public involvement. The reorganization is proceeding on schedule, members of the <br />Executive Committee are meeting with MnDOT to confirm the future role of the <br />NCDA. <br /> <br />The NCDA approved a resolution that approved the distribution of the preliminary <br />engineering plans to the cities for comments. The NCDA staff recommended the <br />members give conceptual approval of the station designs. The members were not <br />comfortable with that and only approved the distribution of the plans to the cities. <br />Copies will be available June Ist and the cities have 45 days to review and comment. <br />There will be a public meeting at the Sherburne County Government Center in mid July <br />regarding the preliminary engineering plans. <br /> <br />Also attached is a letter from Tim Yantos, Project Director, Northstar Corridor <br />concerning the maintenance facility. After reviewing the alternative sites suggested by <br />the city, the NCDA and the consultants are recommending the facility be located at <br />what is called the Cargill South site. This location is located on Cargill property south of <br />the railroad tracks about a quarter mile southeast of the proposed station.
