Library Board <br />January 27, 2009 <br />Mick Stoffers, Karen Stelk, John Dietz, Jayne Dietz, Nick Zerwas; City Council Liaison and <br />Joan Allen from GRRL were in attendance. One guest was in attendance, Jerry, who is <br />interested in joining the Board. <br />Meeting was called to order at 6:33pm. <br />We voted to have John Dietz ns acting President for the meeting. <br />A quorum was established. <br />The agenda, treasurer's and secretary's report were reviewed, n motion and second were <br />made to approve all. <br />Librarian's Report and Old Business: <br />*The total cost of the fireplace is $17,811. The Board is concerned about any additional <br />charges for the gas line since it is being run during the winter. The <br />Board would also like to see any bills related to the project before they are paid. <br />-Update- After the meeting Mick received verification from Bill Maertz that gas line will <br />be in on budget because it was bid as n winter project <br />*The Board expressed their disappointment that the Ballard was never installed for the <br />Book Drop. They are also concerned that the previous bid for the Book Drop will be honored <br />now that the project has been delayed until spring. <br />New Business: <br />*Circulation Statistics: 2007 / 313,119 vs. 2008 / 340,492, take into consideration that <br />the Library was close for 3 weeks during the 2007 year. <br />*A motion and second was made to approve $175 per end panel, up to 6. <br />*A motion and second was made to approve installing a baby changing station in the <br />Children's bathroom. <br />*Next meeting we will discuss aprojector/laptop for the community room. <br />*2/9 interviews will be held for the new Board member. <br />*Nick Zerwas talked about the possibility of the Legislator allowing Counties and Cities to <br />reduce their Library Maintenance of Effort contributions. Cities and Counties currently <br />give Libraries as much money if not more than the year before. If this passes Counties <br />could go back to the 2007 budget.
