MEMORANDUM TO: Ice Arena Commission, Members FROM: Rich Czech, Arena Manager DATE: January 8, 2009 SUBJECT: Agenda Memo -January 14, 2009 5. 2007 Financial update Tim Simon, the City's Finance Director will be in attendance to discuss the preliminary finances for 2008 as well as the 2009 Ice Arena budget. 6. New Zamboni The new Zamboni was put into service in the middle of November without any glitches. Attached for your review are a few pictures of the machine with the new graphics on it. The machine has operated smoothly and is getting about 10 - 12 resurfacings per charge, which is a few more resurfacings than the older machine. We tentatively have a sponsor for the second machine, however it takes a few days to put the vinyl graphics on the machine, which is not possible with the busy ice schedule the Arena has this winter. Once the advertiser is confirmed, we will schedule placing the vinyl graphics on the Zamboni in the late spring when we are not as busy. 7. Alumni Hockey Game Over the years I've wanted to put together a Boy's High School Hockey Alumni game. My thought is to have a line from each decade starting with 1970. The funds raised could go towards the building of the high school locker rooms. I'm trying to get a hold of Dan Hinote, Joe Otto, and Paul Martin to see if they would like to coach or play in the game. If we get enough volunteers from the Blueline club, Girl's booster club, and youth hockey we can even have a dinner afterwards at one of the restaurants in town or in the Barn. I' 11 have more information regarding the game in April. 8. Staff Updates A. Dry Floor Events The Arena's Annual Craft and Home Business Show is scheduled to be will be held May 2"d. This should be a telling year for the show, with the economy down, which causes the crafters to be more selective in the shows they go to, it will be interesting to see if the show fills and if people will attend the show. We will be offering a discount to venders, if they buy into the spring show they will receive a discount on their fee in the fall.
