<br />PROCLAMA TION <br /> <br />PROCLAMA TION IN RECOGNITION OF SERVICE <br />TO THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br />BY COUNCIL MEMBER JOHN DIETZ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John Dietz began his involvement in the city as a lifelong resident, an employee of a <br />local business, and sports writer for the local newspaper; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John Dietz was sworn in as a representative of the City Council on January 7, 1991; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz served on the City's Utilities Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz served as Council Liaison to the Library Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, while serving on the City Council, Council Member Dietz has been an active <br />contributor and participant in the vision and leadership for Elk River, which resulted in public <br />recognition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz's foresight and understanding of the needs in a growing <br />community resulted in the planning and/or expansion of many public facilities including City Hall and the <br />Municipal Utilities Building, the Police Department Building with Fire Station #2, Fire Station # 1 with <br />Ambulance Bay, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Salt Storage Facility, Public Works Building and Public <br />Library; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz's contributions to strategic planning and goal setting resulted <br />in the development and implementation of a vision for our community and blue prints for growth and <br />redevelopment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz's devotion to the diverse needs of residents and determined <br />insight led to innovative programs and policies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Dietz's due diligence with regard to development in our <br />community resulted in the approval of numerous highly regarded developments and development <br />strategies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many accomplishments will remain a part of the legacy of his tenure as a <br />representative of the City Council for the City of Elk River. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, on behalf of the City Council, city staff, residents, <br />and many friends, that we hereby recognize and extend sincere appreciation to John Dietz for his 16 years <br />of service in commitment and contributions toward the betterment of our community and extend to him <br />our best wishes in all future endeavors. <br /> <br />Stephanie A.
